Masih Alinejad
A Voice for Freedom and Women's Rights
Masih Alinejad is an Iranian-American journalist, author, and women's rights activist known for her fearless advocacy against Iran’s compulsory hijab laws. Born in 1976 in Iran, she began her journalism career exposing corruption in the Iranian parliament, which led to her expulsion.
In 2014, she launched "My Stealthy Freedom," a social media movement encouraging Iranian women to share photos without hijabs, sparking global conversations on women's rights. She later initiated campaigns like #WhiteWednesdays and #MyCameraIsMyWeapon to further challenge oppressive laws.
Her activism has earned international recognition, including the Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy award in 2015 and a spot on Time Magazine’s 2023 Women of the Year list. Despite facing threats, including assassination and kidnapping attempts by the Iranian government, she continues to fight for freedom from exile in New York.
Alinejad's memoir, The Wind in My Hair (2018), details her journey from a small Iranian village to becoming a global advocate for women's rights. Her courage and resilience continue to inspire countless individuals worldwide.
Masih Alinejad actively engages with her audience across multiple social media platforms.
Through these channels, she shares updates on her activism, insights into human rights issues, and personal reflections, fostering a global community dedicated to freedom and equality.
